Arizona Tax Credits for Individuals | 2026 Tax Year

Arizona lets you redirect part of your state tax bill to causes you care about. Unlike a deduction, a tax credit reduces your Arizona income tax dollar for dollar. Here are the five credit programs available for the 2026 tax year and the maximum amount you can claim for each.

2026 Arizona Tax Credit Limits

ProgramSingle / HOH / MFSMarried Filing Jointly
Qualified Charitable Organizations (QCOs)$506$1,009
Qualifying Foster Care Organizations (QFCOs)$632$1,262
Public or charter schools (K-12)$200$400
Private School Tuition Organizations (PSTOs)$1,571$3,131
Arizona Military Family Relief Fund$200$400
Total$3,109$6,202

All credits require cash contributions. Household goods do not qualify.

How Each Credit Works

Qualified Charitable Organizations (QCOs). Give to Arizona nonprofits that serve low-income residents, the chronically ill, or disabled individuals. The Arizona Department of Revenue publishes the list of approved QCOs.

Qualifying Foster Care Organizations (QFCOs). Donate to approved organizations that support foster children and their families. This credit is separate from the QCO credit, so you can claim both.

Public and Charter Schools (K-12). Give cash directly to an Arizona public or charter school, or pay fees for school-sponsored extracurricular activities. Unused credit can be carried forward for up to five years.

Private School Tuition Organizations (PSTOs). Contribute to a tuition organization that funds scholarships for private school students. You cannot direct your donation to your own dependent child. This is the largest credit available, and unused amounts carry forward for up to five years.

Arizona Military Family Relief Fund. Support military families in need. Public contributions are capped at $1 million per year, and the Fund must return contributions and deny the credit once it hits the cap. In prior years, it has reached the limit between mid-September and mid-December. Unused credit does not carry over.

Plan Ahead

Because the Military Family Relief Fund can fill up, give to that program first. Then spread your remaining contributions across the other credits to use as much of your limit as possible.
